Bury’s sporting director has left the club in a move that the club has described as a “cost saving” decision.

Lee Dykes arrived at Gigg Lane as the first man to take the new role in June 2018 having previously been assistant manager and head of first team recruitment at Carlisle United.

He has however become a victim of the Shakers’ on-going financial crisis.

The club are back in the High Court on May 15 over a winding up petition with owner Steve Dale putting the club up for sale at the end of April despite only taking over in December.

Despite all that, manager Ryan Lowe oversaw an immediate return to League One on the field.

“We would like to thank Lee for his contribution to this year’s success on the field, which ultimately ended in promotion to League One,” a club statement read.

“We wish Lee all the best with his future career and will continue to enjoy a positive relationship.

“Further announcements in the coming weeks will see further cost savings for the football club moving forwards, securing its future.”
