SOME Bury fans were in attendance as Chichester City’s FA Cup dream ended with defeat at Tranmere.

Shakers supporters took a special interest in the team from the eighth tier Isthmian League South East Division after they were handed a bye to round two after Bury were expelled from the competition.

That saw the lowest ranked team left in the draw pocket £36,000 in prize money in the process, some of which they have vowed to donate to the Shakers phoenix club which is set to emerge in non-league next season.

It was with that in mind that Bury fans headed to Prenton Park yesterday hoping for an upset.

And Chichester did hold the League One side for more than an hour before slumping to a 5-1 loss.

Corey Blackett-Taylor's 62nd-minute effort opened the floodgates, with Morgan Ferrier helping himself to an 11-minute hat-trick before Taylor made it five.

Ryan Peake grabbed a consolation for the non-league side at the death.

"We want to thank everyone that was rooting for us," Chichester posted on Twitter post match.

"Everyone that made the journey up to watch us and all of those from Bury FC that had our backs.

"As Prenton Park clears, the Chichester fans are still shouting loud."

Former Shakers captain Neil Danns appeared off the bench for Tranmere, playing the final half an hour.
