BOLTON Olympic Wrestling Club flew the flag for the town in two recent national competitions.

The club's young wrestlers won a staggering 25 medals in total at the Tryst Open in Motherwell and Derbyshire Open in Wirksworth.

Coach Lee Meadows said they performed brilliantly on the wrestling mat and were also a credit to the club and the town off it.

He added: "The kids represented the club and town of Bolton fantastically well on both days.

"They are all a real credit to their families who should be proud of what they have achieved.

"They are also hoping to build on this success when they compete later this year at the upcoming Aspull Open in Wigan, and the British Junior Championships held in Cardiff."

Every single one of the 10-strong "Grizzlies" squad either won or finished runner-up in the Tryst Open.

Harry Lancelott, Mia Kipling, Ruby Leader, Arin Sekirden, Alfie Gallagher, Lucy McGrath and Nathan Livesey all claimed golds, while Liam Husband, Megan Kipling and Cameron Leader all earned silvers.

The club's young wrestlers maintained their performance levels in the Derbyshire Open, were all 15 members who competed won a medal.

Grace Costello, Liam Husband, Tommy Costello, Megan Kipling, Lucy McGrath, Nathan Livesey and Stefan Gradwell all won gold, Mia Kipling, Ruby Leader, Arin Sekirden, Alfie Gallagher, Cameron Leader, Hamza Hussain and Abdullah Hussain claimed silver and Jack Costello earned bronze.

Bolton Olympic Wrestling Club's next big tournament will be the Aspull Open on November 18 before they travel to the Sport Wales National Centre on December 3 for the British Juniors.
