THIS week’s rummage around The Bolton News picture archives has unearthed this photo of Miners Arms from January 1996.

The only other information with the picture says the team played in the Bolton Sunday League First Division.

Can you shed some light on that team?

Do you recognise any of the players or are you in the line-up?

Do you know the history of the team or how they fared that season?

Email david.pye@nqnw.co.uk with any memories

The second picture this week was featured in the sporting nostalgia section of The Bolton News on October 31 and is of a St Helens Road Methodist team from the 1960s.

We asked for any memories of that side managed by Ron Matthews and reader Steve Halstead got in touch.

He said: "I played for St Helens Road Meths throughout the sixties and I am on the photo you printed – back row, fourth from right.

"This is an early team photo and judging from who was playing, I would guess at season 1960/61.

"The team were very successful in the Bolton SSS League throughout the sixties and won various divisional titles and appeared in some SSS League Cup finals, but I do not remember winning any of those finals.

"Our most memorable moment was reaching the Glaister Cup final in 1964.

"Even though we lost the match, it was played at Burnden Park and not many local league amateurs can claim to have played there.

"Eight of the players in the photo appeared in that final.

"Some of us still get together from time to time for a drink and a talk.

"All of us are now in our mid-seventies."
