BOLTON Harrier Hannah Kelly will race against the best 200m runners in the country next month.

The teenager has been invited to compete at the Spar British Athletics Indoor Championships where she will compete against the likes of Britain's fastest-ever woman Dina Asher-Smith.

Kelly, who only turned 17 in December, has caught the eye of national selectors with her impressive progress and performances.

The senior indoor nationals in Birmingham on February 17 and 18 marks her step up to the big time.

Kelly, who lives in Bury and is a student, goes into the event in good form having won silver in the Northern Indoor Championships 200m and 60m events at the weekend when she competed in the under-20s age group for the first time.

The previously Northern indoor champion at u17s in both 200m and 60m, she took silver in the u20s 60m on Saturday in 7.66secs before winning silver in her favoured 200m on Sunday in 24.60 which ranks her third in the UK senior rankings.

The national indoors are a qualification event for the world championships and entry is by invitation only with only the country's elite athletes taking part.

Kelly will be the youngest athlete at the championship and has targeted at least a semi-final place.
