BURNDEN’S Gwen Kinloch and Lyndsay Darbyshire both won their categories in the third meeting of the South East Lancashire Cross Country League at Leigh Sports Village.

Kinloch was first L55 in 31mins 51secs and Darbyshire first L50 in 32:22. Anne Ferguson was second L55 in 32:58.

Jenna Leeks was next to finish in 36:47, followed by Louise Wall (42:20) and Liz Hopley (47:36).

Darbyshire now leads the L50 section after three races, while Ferguson is second across the three meets in the L55 group, with Kinloch third.

In the senior men’s race, Rob Short was first to finish in 41:33 ahead of Paul Duke, who crossed the line in 41:45.

Keith Thomas was second V60 in 42:43, followed by Pete Hopley in 45:39, Tony Wall in 47:31 and Andy Warburton in 55:53.

After three races, Short is 32nd overall, with Duke sixth in the V45 section and Thomas second in the V60 table.

Marcus Chester led home a quartet of club members at the Four Villages Half Marathon in Helsby, Cheshire.

Chester completed the course in 1:38:38, followed by David Haire in 1:44:59, Nadia Raza in 2:07:03 and Dawn Evans in 2:41:32.

Meanwhile, Liz McLellan completed the Inskip Half Marathon near Preston in 1:33:23.
