THIS week's nostalgia picture was brought into The Bolton News by reader Roy Davies who is keen to know if anyone can help identify members of the Edbro team he played for in 1993.

He said: "The photo was taken in March 1993 behind the old Burnden Park on Manchester Road.

"It is of the fabrication division of Edbro – the vehicle bodybuilders on Lever Street now called Jost.

"We played there on Friday afternoons after work.

"The players' names I remember are back, from left, Paul ?, Dave Brides, Jimmy Boyle, Clive Haslam, Dave Whitehead, Kanji ?, myself and Bernard Hooley; front, John Capaldi, Kenny Robinson, ?, Peter Brooks, Kenny Lindsay and Lindsay Clark.

"I think the picture was taken by Alex Perry?

"I hope someone remembers the other names."

THE second picture of Pennington Raiders Under-11s from May 1999 was published in the nostalgia section on January 18.

We asked for any memories of that team and reader Tommy Moore got in touch to share his recollections.

He said: "The name of the team arose from the Leigh area where the original manager lived but shortly after this photo was taken it changed to Daisy Hill Juniors.

"I carried on with managing along with Phil Marsden, who has passed away.

"Phil is on the back left of the photo and I am on the right with the cap.

"Phil played semi-pro for Chorley and I played for Horwich RMI.

"The team was made up of boys predominantly from Westhoughton, but also Hindley, Aspull, Horwich, Atherton, Leigh and Bolton.

"The picture was taken at Daisy Hill in a photo shoot after the season had finished and we were waiting to go to Den Haag in the Netherlands, where we played against under-13s sides having only been u11s.

"The team won two matches and lost one. They went on to be very successful, winning cups and leagues every year up to u18s level – notably playing in the first round proper of the FA Youth cup in 2005/6 where they eventually lost to Doncaster Rovers 4-2 at Daisy Hill after leading then having two players sent off.

"They had previously beaten Prescott Cables, Retford from Nottingham and Farsley Celtic from Yorkshire in the preliminary round.

"Pictured from back left are Chris Drath, Simon Bilsbury, Simon Farrell, Scott Johnston, John Fairhurst, Danny Williams (Accrington Stanley), Joe Morris, Andrew Wren, Kyle Spiller and Dominic Goodwin; front, Craig Naylor, Nathan Worth, Martin Williams (mascot), Scott Marsden, Scott Moore (my son) and Craig Whittaker.

"That season at u11s the team won the Warrington Solvay League Division One and the Warrington Interox cup.

"They later played in Bolton Boys Federation and won leagues and cups for a number of years."
