JACK Cullen says he is ready to fight fellow Boltonian Jack Flatley now.

The middleweights have been making a name for themselves since turning professional, both winning on the same bill in Manchester last week.

With each victory they have seemed increasingly destined to get into the ring together.

Little Lever's Cullen, aged 24, has 12 wins and one defeat, which he suffered in mitigating circumstances in his previous fight – a Last Man Standing prize fight night in Dublin when he had a lot less rest than his opponent going into the final after two previous fights on the night.

Flatley, a year younger and from Farnworth, has a blemishless record of 11 straight wins.

Both have fights lined up in the next few months with Flatley, nicknamed The Quiet Storm, in action in June and July, and Cullen topping the bill at Bolton's Macron Stadium on June 16.

Once Cullen – also known as Little Lever Meat Cleaver – gets that out of the way he wants to fight Flatley.

He believes he has served his professional apprenticeship now and is ready for bigger fights – and he says Cullen v Flatley is the biggest one around for him right now.

"Me and Jack Flatley would sell out the Macron Stadium," he said.

"I’d love to fight him. There’s no point us fighting journeymen until we’ve had 20 fights and then fight each other.

"We might as well fight each other now.

"There’d be massive interest in Bolton, it would be a great night at the Macron and that’s one of the best venues for boxing nights.

"I sell 250 for all my fights and to fight Jack I’d sell half the place out on my own.

"I’ve got lots of fans and friends all over Bolton with going to the Wanderers matches, not just in Little Lever, but obviously I’ve got lots of friends in Little Lever.

“It’s got to happen, it’d daft for us not to fight each other because we’d both get a good pay day.

“We’re both in it for the same thing, to win titles and have good fights and this would be a good fight, so why not?

“And people want to see us fight each other. Whenever people talk to me they always ask me if I’m fighting Jack Flatley and I say ‘no mate, not yet’.

“I’m in Tesco and people I don’t even know ask me when am I fighting Jack Flatley. It’s crazy if it doesn’t happen.

“It’d be great for Bolton and there’d be interest outside Bolton because there’d be fighters from other towns fighting on the bill too.

“I don’t want to be fighting journeymen all my life. I want big fights and win titles. If I’m not going to get a chance to do that I might as well go back working.

“It’s okay fighting journeymen but I’ve done that and now I want some proper fights and fighting Jack Flatley would be a proper fight.

“The thought of me fighting him in Bolton excites me so let’s just do it.”
