LOSTOCK AC'S Rachel Hancock, Donna Kelsall and Mat Withers blew away the Christmas cobwebs at the annual Boxing Day Whinberry Naze fell race.

The race, which is often run in fancy dress, climbs out of Rawtenstall for four miles around the West Lancashire moorlands.

Prior to Christmas, Lostockers Albert Sunter and Tony Marlow headed to Ormskirk for the fifth of the South Ribble Orienteering Club Winter Street League event, where Sunter finished eighth in the 75-minute race.

Marlow, still recovering from the injury that forced him to withdraw from the Tour de Helvellyn, finished first in the 60-minute event.

Mark Liptrot continued his excellent form, but in the 5k parkrun format rather than ultramarathons, with a blistering 19mins 47secs at St Helens, placing him eighth overall and first in his age group.

Hayley Cooper turned in a promising time of 27:30 at her first Bolton parkrun, while Mark Shuttleworth clocked 22:17 at Worsley Woods parkrun.
