BURNDEN’S Anne Ferguson led a successful assault on the prizes by the club’s women at the Ashurst Beacon fell race, near Wigan.

The opening race in the club’s Fell Championship saw Ferguson finish third in the women’s race in 50mins 19secs to claim first L60, closely followed by Isaline Pollitt in fourth place and first L50 in 51:10.

Claire McKenna was first L45 in 59:01 with Jane Forrest first L55 in 59:16. The combined effort of Ferguson, Pollitt and McKenna earned the club the ladies' team prize.

Lorraine Halwood completed her 48th marathon, covering the six-lap Langsett Loop 42k course near Penistone in South Yorkshire in 5:13:27. Mark Jackson finished in 4:35:45 to notch his 10th marathon.

Christopher Fielding posted a time of 43:01 in the Run Through Tatton Park 10k in Knutsford.

Denise Hodgkinson and Emma Walker took part in the Petzl Night Runner Close Encounters 10k round Rivington in the dark. Hodgkinson completed the course in 1:20:07, Walker in 1:32:45.

Jackie Oakes was fourth F45 in the Wirral Way Half Marathon with a time of 1:49:32.
