LOSTOCK AC's Mark Liptrot and Rachel Hancock scored age-group podium finishes at the final Petal Nightrunner race on a cold and very windy night around Rivington and Two Lads.
Liptrot finished 21st overall and third in his age group in a time of 56mins 59secs, while Hancock was sixth-placed woman and second in her age group in 1:08:02.
Cathy Stratton finished the tough 10k course, which relentlessly climbs through Rivington Terraced Gardens and eventually on to Two Lads, in 1:14:12, with Alan Mather, Karen Taylor and Ian Burns turning in times of 1:19:25, 1:21:03 and 1:21:06, respectively.
The South Ribble Orienteering Club's winter league visited Standish, and while Albert and Abigail Sunter took time out from competing to organise the race, fellow Lostockers Josie Greenhalgh and partner finished fourth in the 75-minute event, followed by Tony Marlow in seventh place, with Kerry Varden, in her first orienteering event, finishing 13th with partner Mike Ernill, and a similarly impressive debut from Mark Checkley, who finished 14th.
Parkrun results saw both Gareth Pratt and Mark Shuttleworth third in their age group at Haigh Hall and Worsley Woods, respectively, with times of 22:39 and 22:07.
