FLIXTON Cricket Club A took advantage of Ramsbottom Town A having an open date by climbing to the top of the Bolton and District Table Tennis League Premier Division with a 27-1 whitewash of Ladybridge A.

Ramsbottom dropped one place but have a game in hand, while their club-mates, Ramsbottom Town B, failed to strengthen their position in third as they suffered an unexpected 19-12 loss at the hands of ninth-placed Wharton, for whom Barry Elliott scored nine points.

Rammy B are now joint third with both Little Lever Cricket Club A and Radcliffe Cricket Club.

Little Lever just managed to beat eighth-placed Hilton A 21-17, despite a resisting nine from Andrew Michnowiec, while Radcliffe overcame Flixton Cricket Club B 22-14, helped by nine from Kristof Pinter.

Mid-table Nomads beat bottom team Hilton B 24-13 assisted by nine from Fred Turban.

Division One leaders Burning Desire marched on in a season of dominance in the section, thrashing Meadow Ben A 27-2.

Second-placed Wigan TTC outplayed mid-table Little Lever Club B 26-7 with nines from Daniel Watkinson and Valdas Semiotas.

Third-placed Ramsbottom Town D outplayed Hilton C with a full-points 27-6 win.

Fourth-placed Polonia Club A just managed to beat fifth-placed Coburg 21-16 assisted by nine from Lukasz Serdiuk.

Mid-table Wingates beat a Heaton Cricket Club A side a couple of places below them 19-12 with a nine from John Bradbury.

Top team in Division Two, Hilton E, beat second-bottom Walkden Methodists 19-14 with the latter helped by a resisting nine from John Barker.

Second-placed Saint Paul’s Peel had a 25-9 win against Hilton F with nines from Faizan Bhura and Lee Devonport.

Polonia Club B are now third after a good 21-9 win against Bolton TTC, helped by nine from Vojtech Sanc, with the losers now fourth.

Mid-table Heaton Cricket Club B had a 22-17 victory over Meadow Ben B one place below them, and mid-table Brass Zone won 22-8 against Ladybridge B two places below assisted by nine from Phil Petts.

Farnworth Social Circle B had a good 23-11 victory over Hilton Top Spinners two places above them with a nine from Martyn Garnett.

Division Three’s top team Farnworth Social Circle C had a 24-7 win against Irlam Steel with nines from Ben Wyatt and Chris Lord.

This will be Irlam’s last season as some players are moving away and they may also struggle with the last couple of matches of this season.

Second-placed Meadow Hill A triumphed 23-8 over Ladybridge C assisted by nine from John Nuttall.

Third-placed Meadow Ben C had a 24-7 victory over third-bottom Hilton H with nines from Alan Hibbert and Ian Wheeldon.

Fourth-placed Hilton G won 23-9 against their Junior I team 23-9 with nine from Martyn Rolling.
