WITH the exception of Division Three, the Bolton and District Table Tennis League took a break from league matches to play the third round of the Warburton Cup last week.

The competition is played across all divisions and Division Two’s Hilton F's 283.5 start was enough to help them to a 496.5-406 win against Coburg from Division One.

Division Three’s Ladybridge C were also aided by their start of 219.5 as they ran out 447.5-390 winners against Division One’s Heaton Cricket Club A.

Second in Division One, Wigan TTC, had 54.5-point start against the Premier Division’s Little Lever A. However, it was not quite enough as the higher-placed side won 367-341.5.

Division Two’s Polonia Club B, and their C team from Division Three, began with the C team having a start of 114.5.

But it was not quite enough as their B team ran out 386-363.5 winners.

Polonia Club’s A team were in action against fellow Division One side Little Lever Cricket Club B.

The latter had a 39.5 start but did not need it as they won 378.5-327.

There are three results to come in and teams are reminded matches need to be played before the next round in the week commencing February 18.

Division Three continued with league matches, and leaders Farnworth Social Circle C outplayed Irlam Steel Social Club 24-7 with nines from Ben Wyatt and Christopher Lord.

Second-placed Meadow Hill A had a good 23-8 win against Ladybridge C, with John Nuttall winning the maximum nine points.

Third-placed Meadow Ben C overcame Hilton H 24-7 with nines from Alan Hibbert and Ian Wheeldon, and fourth-placed Hilton G were also on form with a 23-9 win against juniors Hilton I with a nine from Martyn Rolling.
