THIS week’s delve into the picture archives at The Bolton News has unearthed this photograph of a wintry friendly match between footballers from White Bank and County Grammar School, taken in 50 years ago tomorrow, in February 1969.

The information accompanying the picture says the match took place on the snowy slopes of Haslam Park on a pitch 'carved out of nine-inch snow'.

It says County Grammar won the 50-minute match 10-0.

Do you remember that game or recognise anyone pictured?

Did you play for either team around that time?

Email david.pye@nqnw.co.uk with any recollections.

The second photograph was published in the sporting nostalgia section on January 24 and features the Thornleigh College sixth form football team from October 1991.

The picture evoked memories for Marcus Hallows who emailed in and said: "I am on the front row next to the guy with the beard (Vinny Holland – head of sixth form).

"That picture was a mixture of players from lower and upper sixth form pupils.

"I was in the team the previous year along with a few on the photo when we won the Under-16s' Bolton Schools' Cup at Burnden Park.

"We beat Turton in the final 2-0 I think."
