FLIXTON Cricket Club A, still top of the Premier Division in the Bolton and District Table Tennis League, had a 25-9 win against seventh-placed Hilton A with a nine from Steve Davies.

Ramsbottom Town A are in second place and only 10 points behind with a game in hand. They took full points from a 27-4 win against Radcliffe Cricket Club with Ryan Choong, now permanently transferred to the A team to cover injuries, making his debut for Ramsbottom.

There is a considerable gap to the rest of the division but Ramsbottom Town B in third had a 23-12 victory over second-bottom Ladybridge A, assisted by a nine from Sandy Choong.

Flixton Cricket Club B beat mid-table Nomads 18-12 with nine from Anthony Bates. Wharton stay out of the bottom two after helping themselves to a 25-8 win against bottom team Hilton B with nines from Barry Elliott and Dean Walmsley.

Division One leaders Burning Desire were awarded their scheduled match against Farnworth Social Circle A, receiving 24 points based on their average so far.

Second-placed Wigan TTC beat third-placed Ramsbottom Town D 22-11 with nines from Daniel Watkinson and Paul Clark. In fifth place, Coburg had a good 23-10 win against a Wingates team two places below them, with a nine from Chris Naylor, while Hilton D beat Little Lever Cricket Club B 21-11. The bottom-two clash saw Heaton Cricket Club A beat Meadow Ben A 18-15, helped by a nine from David Hall.

Division Two’s top team Hilton E had a shock defeat as they were pipped 19-18 by 10th-placed Farnworth Social Circle B for whom Martyn Garnett scored nine.

Second-placed Saint Paul’s Peel were 25-6 winners against ninth-placed Hilton Top Spinners 25-6 with nines from Leon Smethurst and Lee Devenport, while Meadow Ben B, in third, also had an expected victory, 25-7 against bottom team Hilton F. Nines came from John Bostock and Steven Robertson.

Having slowly slipped to fifth place, Bolton TTC B were trounced 24-6 by seventh-placed Brasszone with a nine from Phil Petts while Ladybridge B just beat second-bottom Walkden Methodists, John Birchall’s nine helping them to an 18-17 victory.

Division Three leaders Farnworth Social Circle C and nearest challengers Meadow Hill A had a well-fought battle that ended honours even at 16-16.

Third-placed Meadow Ben C faced their own mid-table D team and ran out 21-13 winners, assisted by nine from Ian Wheeldon.

In the lower half of the table, Albany overcame Hilton I 25-10 with a nine from David Chadwick and Hilton H beat bottom team Meadow Hill B 24-6 with nines from Wes Jones and Rob Culf.
