BURNDEN ladies confirmed their domination of the South East Lancs Cross Country League with another string of fine performances in the final leg of the series at Yarrow Valley Park.

Isaline Pollitt was first L50 in 31mins 15secs with Anne Ferguson winning the L60 group again in 31:48.

Shirley Staveley and Lyndsay Darbyshire completed a one-two-three in the L50 category with times of 32:33 and 33:09, respectively.

Gwen Kinloch was third L55 in 31:50, while Liz Hopley (39:29) and Louise Wall (40:36) completed the Burnden finishers.

The results gave Pollitt the L50 title over the four races of the series, with Darbyshire in second place.

Ferguson cruised to the L60 title, having won her age group in all four races.

In the team standings, Burnden were third overall, second in the L50 section, and they won the over-40s, o45s and o50s categories.

Across the whole series they were fourth in the overall team results, second in the o35s and won the o40s, o45s and o50s titles.

In the men’s race, Paul Duke was first to finish, fourth V40 in 37:32, followed by Steve Nolan, who was first V55 in 37:32.

Ed Ashton was third V55 in 39:48, Martyn Pollitt fourth V55 in 39:57 and Keith Thomas first V60 in 40:17.

Tony Wall crossed the line in 44:50 and Mark Cannon posted 45:03.

Lee White was the first Burnden member to finish the Central Lancs 5k at Leverhulme Park, coming home third M45 in 19:41.

Steven Bate was next, fourth M40 in 22:09, followed by Kris Worsley in 24:36 and Craig Philpot in 25:35.

Emma Walker was second F45 in 26:37 and Kathryn Berry second F50 in 27:16. John Egan crossed the line fourth M65 with a time of 31:14.

Julie Morrison completed her first half marathon when she ran the Great North West event at Blackpool, crossing the line alongside David Morrison in 2:33:10. Tim Taylor finished the course in 1:49:36.

Carolyn Barker, Jackie Oakes and Mumtaz Patel tackled the Silverdale Circuit 21.6-mile trail race starting at Milnthorpe and traversing the Lancashire-Cumbria border passing through Silverdale itself. The trio finished together in 4:41:30.
