KARL Darcy won the annual Lostock 6 road race on Sunday.

The Salford Harrier crossed the line in 30mins 5secs, with Tommy Harrison of Bolton United Harriers second and Chorlton Runners' Matthew Devlin third.

The women's race was a one-two for Horwich RMI Harriers with Erica Booth first in 39:41, Jane Counsell second and Thornton Cleveleys' Bev Wright third.

Close to 500 runners, mainly from around the North West with some travelling from further afield, assembled at Barnstormers pub in Lostock for the 37th running of the race, which this year was sponsored by Scan Computers UK.

The £50 cash prize for beating the course record was not claimed in the unseasonably warm weather and rolls over to next year.

Host club Lostock AC fielded 17 runners, with Stuart Hatton the first of them home in 40:07.

Adam Lowe clocked 41:15, Paul Lacey 43:55 and Gareth Pratt 44:33, with Hazel Hatfield the first Lostock woman home in 46:31.

The other Lostockers were Beverley Atherton-McKenna, who finished in 48:44, with Steven Smith 49:57, Jocelyn Chadderton 50:01, Ian Burns 59:53, Hayley Cooper 51:49, Jennifer Donnellan 52:24, Amy Trevor 52:35, Mat Allen 53:51, Jeanette Brandon 53:49, Emma Hatton 56:20, Fiona Salt 59:55 and Allen Jones 1:04:45.
