THIS week’s delve into The Bolton News picture archives has unearthed this photograph from May 1991.

It features youngsters from Eagley County Junior School and the information accompanying the picture says the team won the Turton Area Cup that season.

It says they beat St Brendan's RC School 3-1 to win the trophy.

Do you recall that team or did you play for the school side?

Do you recognise any of the faces in the line-up?

THE second picture of the Bolton Boys team from 1988 was featured in the January 3 sporting nostalgia section – and memories are still coming in from readers.

Dave Price, who previously shared his recollections of being involved with the town team set-up, had more memories evoked recently.

He explained: "My wife, Vivien, and I were recently at the mayor of Westhoughton’s charity concert by the Houghton Weavers when several local mayors attended, including Bolton’s.

"Bolton Alderman, Peter Finch, who was on the Paderborn trip that David Flitcroft and David Hayes went on that Easter, told me on the evening the mayor’s officer was on a town team photo in The Bolton News and they had chatted about the trip.

"It transpired Bolton mayor’s officer was the same David Hayes – the other goalkeeper stood next to Carlo Nash on the photograph and we had a really nice chat.

"David actually played in the win against Sefton.

"Although he was offered a YTS in football he opted to stay in school and do A levels.

"Also, Cllr Sherington’s daughter Samantha, now the Lady Mayoress, also came on the BSFA trip and stayed with her friend in Paderborn.

"On our previous trip my co-manager was Len Thomas and his family travelled, as did mine on our first visit at Easter 1987.

"Len’s wife, Linda Thomas, is now leader of Bolton Council."
