LOSTOCK AC triathlon member Mark White got the multi-sport season off to a strong start with a second-place age-group finish at the Clumber Park standard distance Duathlon.

Set in the stunning north Nottinghamshire National Trust park, White turned in a 51mins 4secs 10k initial run, a 1:23:58 40k bike split and final 5k run of 30:23 for an overall time of 2:49:26.

Closer to home James Jackson, Hayley Cooper and Anthony Wilcock raced one of the UK's toughest half marathons, the To The Pike and Back Half Marathon.

Starting and finishing in Bolton's Moss Bank Park, the route takes runners to Winter Hill and Rivington Pike for more than 2,000 feet of ascent.

Jackson was the first Lostocker home in 1:48:40 to finish 34th overall and fourth in his age group.

Cooper continued her journey to the Greater Manchester Marathon with a time of 2:11:57, while Anthony Wilcock completed the 12th of his 30 half marathons in a year in a time of 2:16:52.

Francesca Corcoran demonstrated her continuing development as a runner with a time of 2:27:21 at the Wilmslow half marathon. 

Mark Liptrot and Chris Taylor both turned in strong times at the traditional Heptonstall fell race which takes runners over 15 miles and 3,000 feet of ascent around the Pennine Moors of Calderdale.

Liptrot finished in a time of 2:34:34 with Taylor turning in an equally-strong time of 2:49:08. 

Lostock parkrun results saw Andy Laycock finish in 23:32 at Bolton, while at Haigh Hall, Gareth Pratt clocked 22:34 and Ian Burns finished in 27:53.
