THIS week’s delve into the picture archives at The Bolton News has unearthed this photograph of Darcy Lever CC from 1996.

The only information accompanying the picture says the team were winners of the Vimto Trophy that year.

Do you remember that cup run or recognise anyone pictured?

Did you play for Darcy Lever at the time?

THE second photograph was published in the sporting nostalgia section on May 17 and features youngsters completing a tough Football Association Super Skills course in August 1983 at Horwich Leisure Centre.

It brought back memories for several readers including Michael Rutherford who said: "I have seen your article and picture regarding the Super Skills course in Horwich in 1983.

"I did not do the course that year but did it in either 1981 or 1982 on the all-weather pitch at Station Park.

"Those that achieved the gold award were then invited to attend Kearsley Sports Centre on Tuesday evenings to practice football juggling (keep-ups) where individuals were entered first regionally, then nationally to compete.

"Kevin Grundy from Bolton won the national competition a couple of times with the final taking place at Wembley ahead of the FA Cup final.

"From this group of people, Gordon Williams then formed the Bolton Jugglers.;

"We were a football display team that took part in carnivals, as well as TV appearances on Saturday Superstore and Look North West."

Meanwhile, Rob Hope spotted himself on the picture and emailed: "Seeing the picture today was a bit spooky as I was just thinking of sending the picture in myself.

"I still have an original BEN print.

"I also have one for a Horwich Cubs float at the Horwich Carnival around the same time.

"Some of my old school friends and characters from local Horwich schools are on there including: Michael Powell, Si Murphy, Nathan Matthews, Andrew Edwards, ‘Crooky’, ‘Woody’, Dan Thompson, John Greenhalgh and Phil Hackett."

Rob, who is second from the right on the second row, was unsure if some of the names he recalled were correct.
