No pressure is being placed on the Centurions latest signings as Leigh's first team squad returned to work this week.

With the additions of John Clough and former St Helens, Oldham, Chorley and Rochdale halfback John Braddish to their ranks, the Centurions are looking a stronger outfit.

Despite both signatures being clinched ahead of the Leigh's Boxing Day thrashing of Swinton, neither player was selected. Leigh coach Darren Shaw explained.

"John Braddish and John Clough recently signed and we'll give them a couple more weeks to get into our teamwork. I don't want to put them under too much pressure.

"Cloughie had been in training with us for a week before the Swinton game but was feeling a bit sore by the end of it and we thought it best not to risk him."

"John Braddish officially starts training with us on Thursday. He is on a part-time deal."

Braddish has been away from professional rugby league for 12 months yet has played a number of games for Warrington-based Bank Quay Bulls in the North West Counties Premier Division and more recently, rugby union for Sale Sharks reserves.

One notable absentee from the New Years first week of training is Tim Jonkers.

"Tim has recently got married and is away on honeymoon, but he'll be back next week."
