JAY Spearing has been nominated for the Championship player of the season at the North West Football Awards 2013.
The Wanderers midfielder has been recognised for his work on loan from Liverpool last season and is up for the prize alongside Blackburn’s Jordan Rhodes, Blackpool’s Tom Ince and Burnley’s Charlie Austin.
Young winger Chris Lester has also been picked out as a nominee in the Rising Star award, which recognises young footballing talent from the Conference to the Premier League. The 18-year-old has forced his way on to the periphery of Dougie Freedman’s first-team squad and also earned a call-up to Northern Ireland Under-21s.
Bury’s David Worrall has been nominated for the League One award, while Craig Jones has also been included in the Rising Star category.
