AROUND 35 firefighters tackled a blaze which destroyed a former Renfrewshire social club.
Crews were called to a disused flying club the Clansman on Inchinnan Road, Renfrew. It happened close to Glasgow Airport around 9pm yesterday.
Five crews and two support units were called in to deal with the blaze which left the building virtually destroyed.
Investigations were being held today into the cause of the fire. There was not believed to have been any disruption to airport business while emergency services were at the scene.
Meanwhile, police are probing a fire after the entrance to a family home was set alight.
Police are treating the incident in the Milton area of Glasgow as wilful.
Fire broke out at 11.30pm on Monday in Westray Street. A family were at home at the time when they realised their front door had been set on fire.
They managed to escape from the house uninjured.
Detective Sergeant Graham Cordner, based at Maryhill CID, has appealed for information.
He said: "I would urge anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to get in touch."
