CHILDREN from St Andrew’s primary school in Ramsbottom have been busy raising nearly £2,000 for charity.

The school council decided to fundraise for Asthma UK as they wanted to donate to cause that affected a lot of children in the school.

They held a sponsored obstacle course, raising £1,000 for the cause and then held a Macmillan coffee morning making £500 for the cancer support charity.

The children will also be holding a pyjama day for Children in Need which usually raises over £250.

Headteacher Damian Marsh said: “I think it is remarkable that we are able to do so much for local and national charities in such a short time.

“The children and their families at St Andrew’s always rise to the occasion when it comes to thinking about others and especially those in need.”

Two cars full of food items were also donated by the school to Bury food bank.
