A GUN-TOTING robber is being hunted by police after a "terrifying" raid at a Bury bookmakers.

Detectives have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to in connection with the robbery at Coral, in The Rock, earlier this month.

At around 7.30pm on Friday, December 2, the man entered the store asking to use the toilet.

When a member of staff told him he would need a key to use it he brandished a gun.

The footage shows him pointing the weapon at the staff member, before passing a bag through the security screen and telling him to fill the bag with money from the till.

The victim - fearing for his life - agreed and the man fled.

The offender is described as white, 26 to 35 years old, of medium build, with a dark beard and dark shaved hair.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Barker, from GMP’s Bury borough, said: “If you recognise the man in the footage then please call police immediately.

“We believe the man on CCTV was also in Yates’ pub on Market Street from about 6.20pm that day. If you have any information about this then I would also urge you to call us.

“This would have been terrifying for the staff member and we are just thankful no one was injured.

“We have a dedicated team trying to find the man responsible and we are calling on the public to help us do so.

“Even if you believe you have the smallest bit of information, it could help this investigation.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 1945 of December 2 2016, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
