MATCH OFF: Bury v Bristol Rovers postponed

The Bolton News: Bury's waterlogged pitch at the JD Stadium Bury's waterlogged pitch at the JD Stadium

BURY'S planned League Two match at home to Bristol Rovers has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Overnight rain and continued showers this morning on an already heavy pitch forced the club to call for an early inspection and the match was postponed by referee Michael Naylor shortly after 8.15am.

A tweet sent from the club's official Twitter site explained the decision further: "One of our concerns was preventing Bristol Rovers supporters from travelling. Hopefully, we've stopped them."

Bury's match at Torquay United last Saturday was postponed after midday, by which time the majority of supporters had made it to the Devon coast.

The weather conditions have not been kind to the Shakers in recent weeks, with five of their last seven scheduled matches postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

Their next match is a rearranged fixture at Accrington Stanley on Tuesday. The original match between the local rivals, late last month, was the first of four consecutive away matches to be hit by the weather.

The latest postponement is the first league match to be called off at the JD Stadium this season after their first round FA Cup clash at home to Cambridge United was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch earlier in the campaign.

Bury have just one free Tuesday, March 4, up to the end of next month after rearranged dates for postponed matches at Mansfield and Torquay were last week crammed into an already busy fixture schedule.

Another bumper Saturday crowd of 2344 pulled in for a local derby eh lolz08....yet you have the cheek to call us. You must be so proud of your fanbase!

Think it's about time you got out of your armchair and actually went down to support your team for once (if you know where their ground is, that is) instead of sitting behind that computer of yours...don't you?

Come down to Gigg on Mar 7th and see what it's like to sample an actual game, unfortunately your team'll get beat but hopefully you'll enjoy the atmosphere nonetheless.
Oh and by the way, your lot will be the ones playing in blue.
