Bury boss David Flitcroft bids to tie up extension to Ipswich defender Frederic Veseli's loan stay

IPSWICH manager Mick McCarthy will decide the immediate future of Swiss Under-21 international defender Frederic Veseli following the end of his two-month loan deal at Bury.

The former Manchester United trainee has become an integral part of the Shakers defence, helping them to five clean sheets in his seven matches at the club.

Bury boss David Flitcroft is eager to extend Veseli’s stay for a third month, in time for Tuesday’s trip to Mansfield Town, but admits the decision rests with McCarthy.

“If I can take him for another month I think it will help Freddie and it will certainly help us,” said Flitcroft.

“Freddie wants to do it, there’s no doubt about that. We will speak with Ipswich and Mick and try to get it nailed on for Tuesday.”

It has not all been plain sailing for the 21-year-old defender, with Bury conceding four goals at Chesterfield in only his second match at the club.

But they have since gone five games unbeaten and Veseli has had a major part to play in that improvement.

“Over the last month he has got better and better, there is no doubt about that,” added Flitcroft.

“The first two or three games he was a fish out of water but now the lads love having him in the squad and he loves being part of this.

“He knows he can improve under our guidance, he’s a real learner.”

I have to admit, i don't really know all the ins and outs of the loan system, but rather than extend his stay for a 3rd and final month can we not just extend it until the end of the season?

I'm gonna be slightly worried in a months time if he has to go back and we then have rely on Picken for the remainder of the season.

totally , agree with shaken city,we should try and keep veseli to the end
of the season picken,s inclusion would be detrimental to the team,s
recovery.
