Newport County 0 Bury 0

9:34pm

Akpa Akpro is back on the pitch, seemingly none the worse for his run-in with the Newport defence.

9:31pm

86 - Akpa Akpro goes down clutching his head following a tangle in the Newport half.

9:26pm

80 - Chris Sedgwick saw  strike from the edge of the box well saved by McLoughlin, low to his left.

9:24pm

79 - SUB - Porter on for Minshull

9:20pm

72 - Jones relieves the pressure with a rare run at the Newport defence but his shot is blocked behind for a corner that is cleared.

9:16pm

70 - SUB - Akpa Akpro on for Platt.

9:14pm

68 - Flynn tests Jensen with a low shot on the turn.

9:12pm

67 - YELLOW - Chapman

9:09pm

63 - SUB - Procter on for Tutte

8:55pm

50 - YELLOW - Holloway

8:54pm

46 - Jim McNulty was inches away from getting on the end of a Sedgwick free kick in the opening minute of the second half.

47 - Newport captain Mike Flynn test Jensen with a snap shot at the other end.

8:51pm

8:50pm

45 - SUB - Holloway on for Crow

8:34pm

Newport County 0 Bury 0

8:33pm

45 - Flynn fires a volley over from 25 yards.

8:28pm

40 - Newport keeper is out quickly to block a Jones break.

8:27pm

39 - Ball breaks to Wilmott on the right of the Bury box and Jensen shows strong hands to block a thunderous shot.

8:20pm

32 - Platt misses the chance of the half, putting a free header in a central position wide of the near post following a clever dinked cross from Hussey.

8:18pm

30 - Good saving tackle by McNulty on Crow after a flick-on into the six-yard box from Minshull.

8:16pm

28 - Weak shot from Tutte drifts wide.

8:13pm

25 – Zebrowski gets in behind the Bury defence but his shot back across goal is well stopped by Jensen.

8:12pm

24 - Great one-handed save low to his right from the Newport keeper after Mayor cut inside and curled one with his right foot towards the bottom corner.

8:08pm

20 - YELLOW - Minshull - shocking studds-up challenge on Jones.

7:59pm

10 - Same tactic almost worked a treat. This time Mayor's cross finds Jones just outside the right edge of the six yard bos, but the ball bobbles awkwardly on the turf off the midfielder and goes out for a goal kick. Great chance.

7:57pm

9 - Jones drags a shot wide of the post after a Mayor cross finds him on the right inside the Newport box.

7:54pm

A noticeable change in tactics from Bury in the opening five minutes here. They are launching it long at every opportunity. Possibly due to the fact that Newport share their pitch with rugby union side Gwent Dragons.

7:48pm

7:45pm

Players are out here at Rodney Parade for a match that looks set to be played in front of a pretty sparse crowd. But the Newport fans around us are making a big enough din. Lets hope they won't have too much reason to cheer during the game. UTS!

7:23pm

Well no abusing the credit cards tonight, home and not on the road.....now 3 losses out of 17. Yes, 3 points would have eased the pressure....but another point gained.

Wow, who is not going to Northampton on Saturday?. A win and in my humble opinion we will be safe....not a must win game....but 3 points would pull us out of the argument.

I agree with you easy, a win and i too think we'll be safe.......unfortuna
tely a defeat will put us in a whole world of pain.
With our non-firing midfield, i again think we're really gonna struggle to score. I think we'll be going there with every intention not to lose (which i agree with), so i'm expecting a 0-0 bore draw.

3 losses out of 17, but how many have been won?....as we don't seem to have gone up or pulled away from the drop.

I respect both of the comments above but why is David Flitcroft setting up his side not to lose with these yawning performances?.A draw may not be the worst result but had Northampton held on we could have been put in a perilous position come Saturday.Too many of players lack the calmness in front of goal to finish. Not sure what Flits does in training but our powder puff front 3 couldn't finish their tea.Right from the off we fail to impose our game on the opposition.KNILL & WILDER will be targeting this game on Saturday as a win or bust scenario. The difference between a team that survives and one who is destined for relegation is that the one who survives gets a win when they need one whilst the others draw or lose.So am i take it Mclaughlin will be in goal again for Northampton Town come saturday?, as the reporter states he played for Newport County last night, another reporting error from the hapless editor.

In addition to my post above, we have an excellent goal dif of -1 which at this end of the table is worth a point!!
We can certainly attribute that to David's attention to detail on defense. Yes, we need to win matches but draws are better than losing.

Both matches coming up are certainly up for maximum points....come on lads, let's put this ? out of sight...
