IF you are new to exercise or very overweight then aerobic exercise is a good place to start and you will lose body fat.

Aerobic activity has many great benefits and it is great for improving fitness.

However, if you are already used to exercising, aerobic activity by itself will not give you the best results for fat loss.

In fact, if you continuously perform high levels of aerobic activity your Cortisol (stress hormone) levels will increase, which will cause you to store more fat, especially around your mid section, and will increase the ageing process.

Over time your body responds to this by burning off lean muscle and your resting metabolism is reduced, which means you will burn off fewer calories each day so subsequently need to consume much less to avoid weight gain.

Anaerobic strength training is weight training at a high volume and intensity.

High Intensity Training or HIT also works on the same principle as anaerobic strength training as it can increase muscle and decrease fat.

HIT can involve sprints or high intensity aerobic moves. If you combine HIT with some anaerobic training you’ll be ripped in no time.
