WANDERERS are set to make an offer for Haringey Borough defender Tyrese Owen, according to reports.

Derby County were reportedly due to take Owen on trial but the Rams are no longer able to sign players due to a new embargo from the EFL.

The Whites are one of several Football League clubs interested in the 21-year-old, according to Football Insider.

Owen – who stands at 6ft 5in – has impressed since joining Haringey over the summer and can also play in a holding midfield role.

The Borough play in the Isthmian League Premier Division – the seventh tier of English football – and sit 14th in the table.

The defender also had spells with Hemel Hempstead, Potters Bar and Carshalton Athletic, plus a season in Sweden with Ytterhogdals IK.

Wanderers have already bolstered their squad with the signings of Dion Charles, Marlon Fossey, Aaron Morley and James Trafford.

The Whites are also trying to get deals done for Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Kyle Dempsey before the transfer window closes.

In terms of outgoings, Ronan Darcy could head out on loan before the January transfer window closes.

Ian Evatt’s men head to New Meadow to face Steve Cotterill’s Shrewsbury on Saturday afternoon (KO 3pm).
