Police took two youths home after receiving reports cars driving through Bolton town centre being shot at by children firing BB guns.

The incident happened yesterday.

While out on patrol the Bolton Town Centre, police responded to reports of two youths walking around town with BB guns, shooting them at passing cars.

Local CCTV operators directed the neighbourhood team to their location and both youths were stopped search and a BB gun and ammunition seized.

They were taken home to parents.

A spokesman for GMP Bolton North said: "Local CCTV operators directed the neighbourhood team to their location and both youths were stopped search and a BB gun and ammo seized. Both youths taken home to parents."

This comes as police have recently stepped-up patrol after  reports of anti-social behaviour in Bolton.

A police spokesman said: “"Officers have been patroling in and around the Bolton area this evening following several reports of anti-social behaviour."

And just last month officers were seen patrolling in Bolton, with a special operation running at Bolton Interchange after a number of incidents including violence.

Police have also previously attended an incident with young people throwing bricks at cars and urged parents to remain alert on where their children were.

Previously officers have focused on Horwich - which led to adispersal order being put in place, banning youths from congregating.
