TV personality Paddy McGuinness has wished the owners of a popular Bolton cafe a happy retirement.

The Bolton News reported recently that Café Vienna on Wigan Road, is closing it's doors after many years of 'fantastic service' as the owners retire and prepare to move to be with their family in Wiltshire.

Margaret, 67, and Gregory Wood, 68, have decided its time to say goodbye to Bolton and move down south to be with their grandchild and family after many years of memories.

Now the Bolton born television star is the latest person to express his sadness at the closure of the cafe, which he visited as a teenager and with BBC Top Gear team, of which he is part.

He described its closure as an end of an era - and a loss to the community the cafe has served.

Paddy said: " If you’ve lived in Bolton chances are you’ve past Cafe Vienna or like most of us from Daubhill and Deane, eaten in it.

"I first visited has a teenager, my last with the BBC_TopGear team.

"End of an era and a big loss for the local community. Enjoy your retirement Margaret & Greg."

He said the cafe served up 'amazing chips' and remembers the jam roly poly and custard!

The cafe has been a popular spot for families across Deane for generations.

Gregory told The Bolton News: "Generations of people have come here, it's a family run affair and it's been well loved by residents across the area for years.

"People who came when they were younger now bring their grandchildren, my children worked here too, it's been well loved."
