Cars have been queuing outside a petrol station which has cut its prices to be one if not the lowest in the country.

Limes Service Station in Walkden dropped their fuel prices on Thursday morning to give back to their local community as the cost of living rises.

The co-director of a local garage has said how ‘at least 20 cars’ have been waiting in line to fill up.

Prices dropped to 169.9p for unleaded and 185.9p for diesel, which is significantly down from 187.9p and 194.9p respectively.

Since the news came out that the prices were dropping, custom has increased for the station.

Co-director of the garage, Hassan Mohammed, aged 30, said: “It’s been going manic, it started on the first day.

“I think it all blew up around 4pm Thursday, after school time, by that time it had gone on social media and news outlets and people generally passing the message onto each other.”

The garage didn’t expect quite the reaction they got.

“We’re still happy and fine with everyone taking advantage of the price.

“We’re trying to keep up with demand, trying to keep all aspects of the business operational.”
