An honours student is set to become a doctor after achieving four A* grades in his A-levels.

Science and maths student Ahmad Gangat, 18, from The Sixth Form Bolton, studied biology, chemistry, maths, and even an extended project qualification.

He has dreams of becoming a doctor, although he wants to decide what he will specialise in later down the line.

Ahmad said: “I am feeling really happy and excited about what I have got.

“After two years of putting in that effort, to get these results is really good.

“But it is because of the teachers and everybody here that I was able to get these results.

“I turned my phone off until I got the results, but I’ve told my family in a WhatsApp now.

“I didn’t know what I was gonna get.”

Ahmad attended Eden Boys School previously and said that academics has always been his strength.

He was unsure at first when it came to what he wanted to do next, but he wants to take that journey to become a doctor now.

He said: “I really want to be a doctor.

“I don’t know what type of doctor yet until after my degree.

“It has been a challenging couple of years.

“I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but something just clicked, and I thought why not be a doctor.”

Honours teacher Andy Howard said: “From day one he just took full responsibility for his own education and treated the place like his own.

“I often found him in the computer library revising.

“He came in with a goal of studying medicine, and he was up for the challenge.

“Ahmad has proven that if you put the work in you can get the results.

“We are so proud of him.”

Former Eden Boys School pupil, Ahmad, will now go on to study medicine at Birmingham University.

But before then he plans to relax and ‘have a bit of a good time’.
