A seven-year-old Bolton boy has followed in his family footsteps by publishing a spooky adventure book.

Archie Mullet, who attends St Thomas Chequerbent CE Primary School in Westhoughton, has written a book he has called ‘Trick or Treat: Spooky Adventures’.

Archie says that the story follows a group of friends on Halloween. One has a magical notebook and whatever she draws in it comes to life.

“It’s really mysterious and they go on spooky adventures,” he said.

He added: “It was a lot of fun.”

Archie’s mum, Joy Mullett, says Archie has always been an avid reader and is “extremely proud” that her son has taken it upon himself to write his own book.

She said: “He came to me with the idea.

“He’s always been in to reading. He started reading at about three years old.

“When I started writing he decided he wanted to. He downloaded Word on his phone, and I just let him do it himself.

“I wasn’t allowed to see it until it was finished.”

“There were originally four chapters - four short stories - and we put them into one.

“They were all his own ideas. He’s got a great imagination.

“I was surprised how good it was.”

Archie has been learning about how to write stories at school and Joy says that his teacher was really helpful in the process.

Archie said: “My teachers and friends said it was really good and really funny. My teacher said he forgot that he was reading a child’s book.”

Hairdresser Joy recently published a novel of her own. The erotic centred around a billionaire and a damsel in distress named ‘I’ve Found Her’ was a notable success. At one time it was ranked second in the genre on Amazon.

She said: “I published my first book in May and have a my second one coming out next month. They are romance novels, over 18s.

“He just knows they’re romance novels.”

Archie has already started formulating ideas for his next book, this time looking to write about animals such as squirrels and dogs.
