A schoolboy moved by the death of Queen Elizabeth II travelled to London to pay his respects and lay flowers into tribute to her.

Milan Kumar, aged 10 who attends Bolton School junior boys was at Buckingham Palace on Saturday

After the initial shock and sadness at hearing the news on TV, Milan immediately asked if he could go to London to pay his respects to Her Majesty and his mum, Daxa Kumar booked the weekend trip.

Daxa said: “There was an eerie silence amongst crowds realising the country's loss.

“The Queen is a massive part of our history that we have lost. She gave so much to the country. We were lucky to have her."

"One of Milan's favourite subjects at school is history, it's important to show him the pages of history as they turned.

“Memorial flower gardens have been created in the area surrounding Buckingham Palace and Green Park and Milan laid tribute flowers for Britain's longest reigning monarch.”

Milan is hoping to attend the funeral on Monday, September 19.

The young schoolboy has been an ambassador for I Will, an initiative launched by King Charles III to give young people the power to make a change in their community and for Milan, this was Bolton.

Daxa said: “The ‘I Will’ movement and its ambassadors know that the passing of the Queen is hard for young people in many different ways, and recognise that this historic event can bring up difficult feelings.

The Bolton News:

“As we enter this time of national mourning, Milan and other ambassadors are encouraging others to look after themselves and each other.

“If young people in Bolton are finding this period particularly challenging, there are organisations that are free to contact for support.”

Milan is also part of the Cub Scouts, a charity the Queen supported during her reign.

The Queen encouraged Cub Scouts to gain skills to succeed in life while The Scouts Association promise had for 70 years included pledging duty to the Queen.

Scout Associations across the country will now be making their promise to King Charles III after the Queen's death.

Milan said: "I think Charles will make an incredible King because he is committed to children and young people through charities such as I Will and the Scouts Association."
