An owner of a coffee shop wants more security in the town centre after being broken into.

Th3 Guys Bakers and Baristas on Great Moor Street, Bolton, was the target of a burglary in the early hours of Sunday, January 29.

The people who broke in smashed the glass on the front door, as well as taking money out of the till and kitchen knives.

Owner Thiago Silva has been left with a huge bill to repair damaged doors inside.

The Bolton News:

Originally from Portugal, Thiago has been in Bolton for over 16 years and owns both the Tapas Restaurant on Bradshawgate and Th3 Guys.

He said: “This happens a lot in Bolton and I am not happy about it, because I invest in the town, so this is not good for business.

“It’s unfair when I spent so much money in the town and then these things happen.

“Bolton town needs more security because this happens daily, not just once a month.

“We see loads of this happening, but we don’t see enough police out on the streets otherwise it feels like we take one step forwards and two steps back.”

The Bolton News:

Thiago also owns Tapas, which was broken into six months ago, leaving Thiago in a difficult position to choose a different location other than Bolton to open more businesses.

He said: “People are afraid to come here because of this, it’s not the town it used to be.

“I think I will not invest anymore in Bolton but probably Manchester now.

“We now need to fix everything including the door that cannot open now, so we have to let people in.

“Bolton has a bad reputation, this is very upsetting for us.”

Thiago has now decided to install shutters on the outside to prevent any further break ins.

He said: “When we first opened, we decided not to have shutters so that it would look nice and people could see what we were even after we closed.

“But now we feel like we don’t really have a choice.”

The police were informed about the incident and attended the premises the following day.
