A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery in Blackrod.
It is understood that the man was reportedly armed with a meat cleaver and demanded money.
The Bolton West and Bolton North neighbourhood teams made the arrest last night (July 29).
The incident happened at the post office on Blackhorse Street, Blackrod.
The man remains in police custody while investigations continue.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police, Bolton North said: “Officers from the Bolton West and Bolton North neighbourhood teams have arrested a 38-year-old male this evening (Saturday July 29) in Blackrod.
"The circumstances of the incident are that the suspect reportedly entered the post office on Blackhorse street, Blackrod, brandishing a meat cleaver and making demands for money.

“The male has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.
“The suspect made off without obtaining any cash or property.
“The suspect is in police custody and the investigation is ongoing.”
