A heartwarming play written by the award-winning author of The Gruffalo will take to the stage this autumn.

Bombs and Blackberries by Julia Donaldson and Thomas Docherty will be performed by The Bethel Crowd at St James' CE High School Farnworth.

Taking to the stage on Friday and Saturday September 15 and 16, performers will transform the childhood short into a wonderful family performance.

Bombs and Blackberries is a heartwarming one act play that follows a group of evacuees through the Second World War.

Audiences can join the Chivers family and friends for a play which say the theatre group is bound to put a "smile on your face" and a collection of songs that will get "your feet tapping and wanting to sing along".
