Emergency services were called to Great Lever following reports of a crash yesterday evening, Wednesday.

The incident occurred at around 8pm on Flecther Street on the junction with Lever Street with police, firefighters and ambulance crews in attendance.

An eyewitness said they believed the incident was a crash and said the road was closed in all four directions.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed its officers were on the scene and said it did not believe any serious injuries had been sustained.

Two crews from Bolton Central fire station also attended.

A spokesperson from the station confirmed its firefighters had given first aid to an individual and remained on the scene for about an hour.

The street has been subject to a number of crashes in recent times, including an accident involving a Range Rover and Toyota which collided outside the Queen Elizabeth pub in September this year.

In August 2020, a woman in her 50s was taken to hospital as a precaution following another two-car crash at the same junction.

Residents have called for traffic lights to be installed at the junction to make it safer.
