Mohammad said: "They call it the Oscars for the curry industry, it is like a national curry award - it was a massive event.

"It was all the way in London. Our customers were given the opportunity to vote for us, there was such a large response from them.

"So we went to London and won the award, we got terrific pictures on stage, it was an absolutely fabulous event.

"We all went in suits and bow ties, it was a proper black tie event, it really was glamourous."

He added: "It is unbelievable. We have been trading for 30 years, we're a family-run business and we have not really received an award before.

"To receive it during our 30th year is absolutely amazing. We want to show appreciation and thank our customers for their loyalty. We have got customers who have been eating with us for 28, 30 years.

"It is sheer hard work, but more so making sure that every meal we cook, we do it with passion, with love and we want to make sure every customer is happy with the food they get.

"And you can see that in the feedback we get through reviews. My father has spoken to fathers and their sons, it is generations that we have served in the area."
