Film crews have returned to Bolton town centre yet again to film season 2 of the ITV hit drama Ridley.

Lighting equipment and production trucks were spotted in Le Mans Crescent outside the former court earlier today, Thursday.

It is not the first time Ridley has been filmed in Bolton.

Just last month, Adrian Dunbar was on location at Le Mans Crescent whilst crews were shooting the second series.

The Line of Duty and Ashes to Ashes star features as Detective Inspector Alex Ridley, who is brought back to the force after an early retirement due to the loss of his wife and daughter in a house fire.

Ridley is written and created by Paul Matthew Thompson, one of the lead writers of ITV’s iconic detective drama, Vera, and co-created by Jonathan Fisher (Blood, Hollington Drive, Penance), Managing Director of West Road Pictures.

Jonathan Fisher said: “It’s a real thrill for filming to be underway with such a top rated cast starring alongside Adrian Dunbar and led by a superb production team.

“We can’t wait to share this absorbing new detective series with our audience.”

The show previously filmed parts of the first series in Le Mans Crescent and outside the former Bolton Magistrates Court.

And Bolton has started to get a bit of a reputation for being the Hollywood of the North, with This Morning labelling it the "new Hollywood".

A-listers and crews took over The Mosley Arms in Breightmet in September for the new Netflix show Toxic Town, with crew vehicles parked nearby and fake signage on the outside of the pub.

The show is based on the real-life story of the Corby Poisonings, one of the UK’s biggest environmental scandals.

Last month Netflix released a trailer teasing the new Netflix drama Bodies which centres on four detectives, four time periods and one dead body in the backstreets of Whitechapel in Breightmet.

Film crews rolled into Bolton town centre last September for the filming of the series in Le Mans Crescent, which has a starring role in many a hit drama, not least Peaky Blinders, which Graham also starred in.

And if that wasn’t big enough A-list actor Ewan McGregor was seen filming for a ‘A Gentleman in Moscow’, outside Victoria Hall for "key scenes" in the series.
