A Bolton shopping centre has announced it will be installing a new Changing Places facility.

The Market Place Shopping Centre will have the new facility installed soon.

More than a quarter of a million people across the UK require the need to use accessible toilet facilities such as Changing Places Toilets, to enable them to enjoy the great outdoors the same as everybody else.

Changing Places Toilets offer severely disabled people an abundance of equipment that standard toilets fail to have on offer.

This equipment includes but is not limited to hoists, curtains, adult-sized changing benches, and plenty of space for carers.

Standard accessible toilets do not offer these facilities or are not large enough to accommodate more than one person.

Without Changing Places facilities, people with disabilities are put at an extreme risk, and their families are forced to risk their own health and safety by changing their loved one on a toilet floor.

And now, Bolton’s Market Place Shopping Centre, is set to install a new facility.

Rachel Townsend, General Manager at Market Place Shopping Centre, said: “It is a fantastic addition to the Centre offering customers within our community the opportunity to come to the town centre safe in the knowledge facilities are available for their use.

“It is such a shame that severely disabled people can feel excluded from society due to being overlooked when it comes to their health and wellbeing.

“We are all about caring for the community and are thrilled to have been able to work alongside the Council in facilitating a changing places toilet in our centre.”
