A Horwich couple are celebrating three years since they opened their swim school which provides lessons to hundreds of children across the borough.

Bolton Swim School will be celebrating three years on Monday April 15, and are ‘thrilled’ to see how the business has expanded.

Charlotte Johnstone runs Bolton Swim School with her husband Harry .

It offers local children aged two up to teenagers 'fun, productive and affordable' swimming lessons in the Sharples High School pool.

Having initially started their business with ten swimmers attending a week in April 2021, the couple are now seeing more than 330 swimmers a week – and are still on a mission to make sure all local children have the opportunity to learn to swim.

Charlotte said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be celebrating our three-year anniversary. We’ve been working really hard over the last three years to build our swim school to what it is today, and we're very proud to have some of the best teachers in the North West on our team.

“As each year has passed we've jumped from strength to strength in this area and we're very proud to have taught nearly a thousand children over the past three years.

“We put a lot of focus on independent swimming, keeping our swimmers motivated with badges and certificates and we keep the parents regularly updated on their child's progress.

“We do run another children's swim school in Wigan called T.J Dolphins Swim School which has been established for coming up to 30 years, originally opened by Harry's parents - swim schools run in the family for us!”

Charlotte said there have been many successful moments since they opened the swim school.

She said: “After the successful launch of Bolton Swim School at Canon Slade, we've expanded to offer lessons at our second venue, Sharples High - this has been a fantastic achievement for us.

“But as well as the expansion of the business, it's the week-in-week-out achievements of our swimmers that make our job special."

“Our longer term goals are to grow our family business so we can offer swimming lessons to more children in the Bolton area.”
