Police attending a concern for welfare in Bolton this afternoon have arrested a woman.

Officers were called to Knowsley Street at 2.45pm.

Officers parked up outside McDonald's, before going inside to check.

Police were later seen just outside the The Market Place, just off Knowsley Street. 

A spokesman for GMP said: "There was a concern for welfare and a woman was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.

"It was about quarter to three when police responded to concerns for welfare for a woman."

Police are now cracking down on crime in Bolton Town Centre including shoplifting.

As part of the crackdown, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) team deployed newly recruited officers, supported by senior officers, into Bolton town centre over the last few months to help support security staff.
