IAN Evatt is enjoying England’s Euros campaign but admits he would like to see Gareth Southgate’s side add a little style to their undoubted substance.

The Three Lions face Ukraine tonight in Rome looking to book their spot in the last four with the nation increasingly hopeful this is the summer that football finally comes home.

Southgate’s men have reached the last eight without conceding a goal and saw strikes from key men Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling see off Germany in the first knockout round at Wembley.

But for some there is plenty more to come from England, and Evatt, a self-confessed football purist, admits that he wouldn’t mind a bit more free-flowing attacking play from the national side.

“I’m pleased that they are where they are, I’ve got to say,” he said. “But fundamentally I haven’t enjoyed the performances, but I think I’m a bit of a football snob!

“You can’t argue with the results. I just like to do it in a slightly more pleasing way.

“Let’s hope they get the result on Saturday against Ukraine.”

Like many, Evatt had called pre-tournament for Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish to play a key role for the Three Lions, the attacking midfielder impressing off the bench against the Germans.

His only start so far came in the win against the Czech Republic.
