IT’S loud, proud and dipped in candyfloss pink — Legally Blonde, the musical has arrived.

Adapted for the stage following the 2001 movie starring Reese Witherspoon, Faye Brooks smashes the role of bubbly blonde law student Elle Woods.

She has that instant likeability factor and her singing voice is note perfect.

Even the natural brunette’s blonde wig is a winner.

Claire Sweeney proves she’s wasted on 60 Minute Makeover, showing off a superb singing voice and comic timing as ditsy hairdresser Paulette Buonufonté.

It’s absolutely jam-packed with tongue-in-cheek showstopping numbers, including my favourites The Bend and Snap and Is He Gay, or European?

The score is fantastic, with comedy, remarkable energy and brilliant choreography throughout.

A notable mention is due to Elle’s pet chihuahua Bruiser, who is positively scene-stealing and so well-behaved, getting into Elle’s handbag of his own accord, promoting a loud round of 'ahhhhs’ from the audience.

And for those unfamiliar with US high school lingo (that’’s most of us) the tour programme is filled with explanations for terms such as Preppie, Mad Props and Elle’s fictional Sorority House ’Delta Nu’ to keep you up to speed with the script.

One of the most important things about theatre is to make you forget your daily worries and be transported to another, more glamorous, world — and Legally Blonde succeeds with ease.

It’s two hours of flawlessly presented toe tapping and hand clapping fun that leaves you with that feel-good warmth only a truly great theatre production brings.

But it isn’t just escapist joy, Elle Brooks has a point beyond it’s camp wondrousness, to challenge the way people judge others based on appearance.

And so with a moral message and a happy ending (and a hunky delivery man in shorts) what more can you ask for?

Legally Blonde is the latest in a string of West End musicals to tour the UK in 2011 and, ohmigod you guys, this one is the best so far!
