A NEPHEW of a Royal Air Force man who was killed in action in 1943 is trying to contact any surviving relatives of an Atherton man who perished alongside him.

Lyndon Pugh, of Brecon, is seeking relatives of Sgt. H. J. Toze of Atherton, who was killed in action on June 26, 1943 while serving with 101 Squadron RAF Bomber Command.

Mr Pugh tells us: "My late uncle, Sgt. Ronnie Pugh, was a comrade of Sgt.Toze and I am researching the circumstances of the loss of the aircraft. The only information I have is that Sgt. Toze was married, with a small son whose name might be Michael.

"I am also aware that Sgt. Toze's widow was the only family member of the crew to contact the sole survivor bomb aimer Sgt P G Brook, who has since passed away.

"I already have a significant amount of detail about the incident, but nothing about Sgt. Toze himself. I would of course be happy to share what I know with any members of the Toze family."

Mr Pugh can be contacted at 45 Gwenllian Morgan Court, Heol Gouesnou, Brecon, Powys, LD3 7EE (phone 01874 610412).
