A MAN has appeared in court in connection with an assault on a man in Tyldesley.
Anthony McGill, aged 45, of Henry Street, Tyldesley was remanded in custody when he appeared this afternoon (Wednesday) at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court by video link from Walton prison charged with Section 18 assault. He is due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on January 21.
Forty-seven years-old Neil Markland, of Tyldesley, is alleged to have been assaulted shortly after 8.30pm last Wednesday (January 2) as he was walking along Henry Street. He remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
A man and a woman, who were also both arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been released without charge.
