TV SOAP stars looked their best at a top awards ceremony thanks to the magic touch of makeup artists from Leigh.
Former Image Centre student Kim Horsfield and tutor Melanie Doyle, from the Wigan and Leigh College campus in Walmesley Road, Leigh were in London for the 2013 TV Choice Awards.
They used their skills to ensure actors and actresses from the cast of Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Coronation Street were looking good for the ceremony.
Melanie worked on the Coronation Street float at this year’s Manchester Pride event and took Kim along to gain some industry experience at a professional event.
Now a student teacher at the Image Centre Kim is being mentored by Melanie and impressed so much at Manchester Pride that Artdeco Makeup UK managing director Colin Laplin chose her to work alongside Melanie.
Kim said: “It was a fantastic experience and it’s thanks to Melanie and Wigan & Leigh College that I’ve been able to have these opportunities.
"The courses really prepared me for the world of work, especially as the teachers all still work in the industry and teach you relevant things as they keep up to date with all the latest trends.”
Melanie said: “I wanted to help Kim to progress her career. She now has some very valuable experience under her belt, and I’m sure she has a bright future ahead. “These events providee a great opportunity and work experience.”
